Turn off one of the Joy-Cons by pressing the button between the SR and SL keys, then pause the game and go to Options > Controller, re-assign the controllers. On Spiritfarers islands, you can find ash logs by cutting down an Ash Tree. If you are using two single Joy-Cons to play local co-op, this also might cause some problems. Going back to the Main Menu instead of proceeding the game is what creates this issue. To avoid this issue happening again on Switch, you’ll want to immediately press Continue or New Game immediately after assigning the controllers.
Once that’s done, go back to the game and you should have regained control of Daffodil. To fix it, just go reassign them again in the Switch controller assignation menu from either in-game or the Switch’s main page.
